Oshkosh 40K Loader
The Oshkosh 40K-Transporter Loader is a key MHE (Material Handling Equipment) component of the United States Armed Forces. The Oshkosh 40K Loader has proven a reliable and stable component in military support worldwide for many years. The 40K loader is used for loading/unloading military aircraft.
The RCL rebuild and reconfigure of the Oshkosh 40K Loader maintains a focus on simplicity and maintanability. Originally powered by a CAT 3208 V8 diesel engine and Allison marine transmission, the Oshkosh 40K Loader as remanufactured by RCL is equipped with a new EPA Tier III Caterpillar ACERT 6.6 liter diesel engine and Allison Generation IV transmission.
The Oshkosh 40K Loader has a capacity of five 463L military pallets totalling 40,000. A one-man cab is located at the left front corner of the deck of the 40K-Transporter Loader. Two hydraulically operating folding links raise and lower the deck and provide fore-and-aft tilt. Four hydraulic cylinders roll the deck from side-to-side. One of the key upgrades RCL Components provides is replacement of multiple (5) hydraulic pumps with one central system.
The Oshkosh 40K Loader can lift five pallets fully loaded to a height of thirteen feet, which allows service of military aircraft and a number of commercial jets. For commercial wide-body jets, extender platforms are available that can bridge the four foot gap between the 40K Transporter-Loader's standard maximum height and wide-body jets such as the B-747. When not in use, the extender is used as a high-line deck.
All platform functions are powered by a single Rexroth variable displacement driven through the PTO of the transmission. Hydraulic controls are greatly simplified in the 40K loader through a custom manifold and COTS solenoid valves. In addition, a completely new wiring harness is installed with thermally printed numbers on teh wires through the length of the wires. A new elecrical control box is added to the side of the original hydraulics compartment, allowing the operator/maintenance technician to raise and lower the platform of the Oshkosh 40K loader from a ground station.
